- 1 tsp mustard
- 1 tsp chana dal
- 1/2 tsp cumin / jeera
- 1 tsp urad dal
- 1 pinch hing / asafoetida

- 1 inch ginger, finely chopped
- 3 chilli, finely chopped
- 1/2 +1/2 cup carrot, beetroot, paste or grated
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup rava / semolina / suji, coarse
- 1/2 cup curd / yogurt
- 1/4 cup water to adjust consistency
- 2 tbsp coriander, chopped
- 1/2 tsp eno fruit salt
- As required oil for greasing
Instructions to make to make Instant beetroot and carrot idli
- Firstly in a pan heat oil and add mustard seed, chana dal, cumin, urad dal, pinch hing and few curry leaves noadd chilli, ginger. saute until golden brown. now add carrot, and beetroot pastesaute for 2 minutes or vegetables shrink slightly. Now add turmeric and salt and saute this slightly.
now add rava and roast on low flame.When rava turns aromat after switch off flame. now,cool the rava mixture and transfer in a bowl. - No,cool the rava mixture and transfer in bowl, add curd and mix well.no add water and mix well forming a smooth batter.rest for 15minutes or until the rava absorbs water.
mix well and add water as required, to form an idli batter consistency batter.grease the idli plate with oil.
just before steaming add a eno ( mix well till it turns frothy. Or can add a pinch of baking soda.pour the batter immediately into the idli plate.
